AI Robot Companions: Apocalypse Bubble or Future ?

So probably something in the head You see it moving you see it’s probably two degrees of freedom in the neck Maybe the AI algorithms are the RBG D or light R This is the elf Shren So it’s tough to say whether or not these are both v1 But this is the same robot just in a different form without kind of the service look Here’s the full body view of this elf and then right after this i’m going to show you the land that this company has But they say that these robots are using large language models as well as vision language models But they haven’t really gotten into any of the specifics of what those systems are They’re also using ultra realistic skin Which looks pretty legit i’ll show you in just a second a close-up It’s probably more like the animatronics that you would see in hollywood the same type of materials used And then here are the hands of the elf Shren Although they don’t look to be dexterous.

They just seem to be maybe plastic 3d printed Now this is a close-up at the skin See here it does look quite realistic especially around the heels So it would be interesting to know how the skin flexes You tell me would this be something durable for the real world would it really hold up Even if it were in the house how quickly would this type of soft looking skin rip or tear if it were to run into an object Now here is the company’s robot head this may or may not be their land series They said that their land series has 10 degrees of freedom But this is their face solution and i’ll show you in a second the side of the head Where it looks like you could potentially remove the face and change it as needed and Here’s a close-up of the head From a different angle you’ll get into the side here you see that it looks like it’s just glued on but You can see the cameras in the eyes shining there It’s probably some type of an RGBD Solution going on here with computer vision Which would explain the company having mentioned its vision language models It’d be good to see some human interactions.

The mouth looks quite realistic And here’s another humanoid from robotics it’s called the area And this is a bit further along it looks like at least it has the working hands It looks quite lifelike in fact they were to put a sleeve over those arms covered with some skin It could pass for being quite real I like how you can pop the head right on there switch it as you need to And you can access the components so it looks somewhat modular Arms look 3d printed So Probably they’re in a late prototyping stage here before production This does look pretty far along in terms of being presentable for a market solution And robotics is shooting for service facing robots, but let’s check out this area from another angle It is entertaining some people interacting And It has 12 precision motors in its head for expressions And 15 more throughout the body to produce these kind of fluid movements And it doesn’t seem to be crossing over the uncanny valley too much tell me what you think it doesn’t feel very creepy Probably because the arms kind of lead to reminding you that it’s a robot There are those visual cues that this isn’t a human Here’s another one tell me which one do you like better this is melody also from robotics Assume to have the same specs as the area But when you cover over those arms It does look almost at a glance like an actual human except the skin slightly gives it away Let’s take a closer look at the skin here in just a second But the eyes do have a realistic kind of a glow to them And you can’t quite see a prominent camera in the eyes at least from here Here’s a closer look This is the aria And let’s see if we can see any cameras in the eyes It’s very realistic because everything’s covered up There’s no obvious robotic components that are visible And remember you can remove the face all the components here Swap it out And This was before it seems like they’ve come a little bit further with the movement of the servos in the arms Hands look quite dexterous But right now it seems to be more of a robot for show At least for entertaining maybe in a light service role But soon enough if they continue on this trajectory it seems like they’re headed for a definite End game of a really hands-on robotic solution, maybe even a home solution You
