So this includes the AMD FPGA based embedded vision and sensor platforms that they provided for real-time processing. And it features a full body tactile skin, covers the entire surface, and it’s a distributed network of touch and force sensors in order to detect contact pressure and micro interactions. And here’s some actual footage of this robot. Here we can see the makeup of this robot. Seems like it is half plastic, half metal. In terms of the AI architecture, it includes the AMD CPU and this provides the 01 with split-second adaptation across its perception, computation, and action, which allows for low latency interaction.
And because of the combination of tactile visual and force data in real time, it allows this robot to learn from physical experiences and refine its behavior over time. But this is what we’ve seen so far. No actual physical demo, but now I’m about to show you a robot that does have a physical demo in the home. And this is the Onaro H1. And this robot features 22 degrees of freedom throughout its body with a special ability to do these home tasks, which I’ll show you more of in just a second. But basically, this is part of Switchbot’s existing ecosystem of task-specific robots.
And in terms of sensors on board this robot, it features a visual perception system, depth awareness sensors, tactile feedback system, as well as integrated perception, which combines all three for understanding object positions, shape, and interaction states to carry out these real household tasks. But what’s even more impressive are the H1’s AI capabilities. So we start here with on-device omnisense vision language action. This allows the H1 to combine its multimodal data, including visual depth, tactile and language understanding, to be able to perform these longer horizon tasks that are more complex and contact intensive, like you see here, the laundry, for instance, and its adaptive learning system improves across all different types of tasks in home scenarios, as you can see it working here.
And the H1’s AI specifically excels with contact intensive tasks, including grasping, pushing, opening, and organizing. But there was another robot on the scene of CES 2026 with extremely dexterous hands. And in terms of its stats, it features 22 active degrees of freedom throughout its hands, and it’s already being mass produced. And the sensor slash tactile system includes ultra sensitive tactile feedback with sub millimeter resolution and over 1000 tactile pixels per second. And here’s what this can do. This robot is playing autonomous ping pong. This is not tele operated. And so this robot is built with general purpose autonomy in mind.
But can it compete with LG’s brand new cloid? This is what they showed off at CES 2026. And genuine dexterous home robot. And they start out here with two articulated arms, each with seven degrees of freedom throughout, and five independently actuated fingers per hand with a tilting torso for height adjustment. And it has a wheeled base for now to maintain a low center of gravity when this robot is working around the house, pushing things around. And the cloid has this very animated head unit, which features an onboard chipset, its display screen, multiple speakers and cameras with various sensors, as well as voice based generative AI.
But let’s get into the AI and vision system specifically. Here, this robot uses a vision language action model to convert images and video into language based understanding. And this vision language action model actually translates visual and verbal inputs into physical actions. And it’s trained already on 10s of 1000s of hours of household tasks. So this robot can already recognize appliances, interpret user intent, and execute content appropriate actions. And so far, it already works with LG’s ThinQ ecosystem. And it’s compatible with the ThinQ OnHub, which connects LG’s Q9 self driving AI Home Hub, and it orchestrates services across all kinds of LG appliances.
So basically, this home robot integrates into the existing ecosystem of smart IoT devices, and kind of becomes the commander in the house. So it can retrieve items from the refrigerator, it can place food in the oven, it can initiate laundry cycles, it can fold and stack garments after drying. And now for number one, the ultimate robot at CES, it could be Boston Dynamics newest Atlas. In terms of hardware specs, this includes 56 degrees of freedom, mostly fully rotational joints with 360 degrees of movement, human scale hands with tactile sensing in its fingers and palms.
Here it looks like there are four fingers instead of three like before. And it features 360 degree cameras for omnidirectional awareness with dual swappable batteries, meaning that this robot can run 24 hours a day. And it comes with the lifting capacity of 110 pounds, or just under 50 kilograms, and it can reach up to a height of 7.5 feet, or just over 228 centimeters. And what’s special about this robot is that it can actually operate in temperatures ranging from minus four Fahrenheit, or 104 Fahrenheit, without breaking down and it’s water resistant.
So it can actually go through industrial wash downs. And it has a runtime of four hours continuously per battery, with the auto swap available and it can navigate to its own charger, of course. And in terms of AI and software, this robot features fully autonomous operation on job sites, starting with its Hyundai partners, using its foundation models for general purpose task handling and its orbit platform for shared intelligence, like skills learned from one atlas can be shared with all of the other atlases in the fleet. And of course, it can also be upgraded with over the air software updates.
And in terms of safety, it features 360 degree cameras to detect approaching people. Now, when is this robot going to come out? So Boston Dynamics said that they’re planning for 2026 to start allocating these units to Hyundai Motor Group and Google Deep Mine with newer customers being added in early 2027. And in terms of robotics factories plan, currently, they’re looking at about 30,000 atlas units of production per year of capacity. And one of the business models that Boston Dynamics mentioned was robot as a service subscription model, which means that you could just pay potentially monthly instead of having to purchase a 20, 50 hundred thousand dollar robot, maybe just pay a couple hundred dollars per month.
And this would include the installation over the air updates, hardware maintenance, remote monitoring, etc. But make sure to share down below which robot you’d put your money on for 2026. Like and subscribe and check out this video here for a comparison of three other robots that are going head to head this year. [tr:trw].
