In several of his music videos, David portrays an alter ego named Atami, a name that literally translates to pain in Japanese. David actually calls Atami his evil twin, telling us clearly that this was his dark alter ego.

Whether it is in the Romantic Homicide video or in his other cinematic projects, he consistently casts actresses who share a striking resemblance to Celeste. By the time he released his debut album Withered, the titles themselves like Unrequited and Leave Me Alone seem to be screaming the subject of a relationship that was spiraling towards a dark end.
