Summary

➡ The Shroud of Turin, a cloth believed by many to bear the image of Jesus Christ, won’t be displayed this Easter. Despite this, research continues, with some evidence suggesting it could be a genuine artifact from 2000 years ago. Earlier tests dated it to the 12th century, but these are now considered potentially flawed. New techniques are being used to re-date the Shroud, and some scientists believe the image could only have been created by a supernatural event.

Transcript

The controversial and mysterious Shroud of Turin, revered by millions, hasn’t been seen by the public for ten years. And this Easter, officials say once again the fragile cloth will not be put on display. Many believe it captures the exact moment of the resurrection, two millennia ago. The Shroud of Turin may not be going on display as what was previously thought, but research has continued on the Shroud and all of the evidence is pointing to this being a genuine supernatural artifact with the depiction of Jesus Christ. And onto which he believes Jesus left his image. You can see clearly the face here, the crossed hands, and here are the scourge marks.

It’s a photograph of the moment of the resurrection. The Vatican has never said it is Christ on the cloth, but in 1988 it allowed tests to be made on samples from the Shroud. The results dated the fabric to the 12th century, but was that carbon dating flawed? Filmmaker David Rolfe says it was. After producing several documentaries about the Shroud, even being given rare permission to film the real thing, he is now a believer. I have absolutely no doubt the person depicted on this cloth is Jesus of Nazareth. Radiocarbon tests on the Shroud in the 1980s put its date to around the 12th century.

But as we’ve seen now many times, carbon dating is not always accurate and new technology is pointing to the origins of the Shroud being 2000 years old. In the southern Italian city of Bari, research to re-date the Shroud continues. This scientific team, led by Catholic professor Liberato da Caro, has tested thread from the cloth with a technique called X-ray crystallography, which analyzes matter at an atomic level. He agrees it is from classical times. The sample taken from the Shroud must be 2000 years old. In the next centuries, Shroud will be studied with more sophisticated techniques. The real fact of the matter here is that this Shroud depicts a Jewish man who is crucified with a crown of thorns and also who went through serious trauma beforehand with wounds all over his body.

The truly amazing piece of evidence around all of this is that there’s no other way for that image to be left on the Shroud besides a supernatural flash of light. And in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, which of course is attested to in the New Testament, we have this artifact, the Shroud of Turin, where you have the death, burial and resurrection all found in one artifact from history. This is fantastic. And Aenea Laboratories in Rome, Paul de Lazo, spent five years of his scientific life studying how much light energy would be required to leave a flash, if you will, a first century selfie, if you will, of Jesus of Nazareth in the Shroud of Turin.

And again, this isn’t a pastor trying to prove anything. This is a light scientist. And Paul de Lazo says it took 34,000 trillion watts of energy, but it wasn’t just the amount of energy, it was the speed. Think about when the Bible says we’ll see Jesus in the twinkling of an eye. The Aenea Laboratories said this 34,000 trillion watts of energy traveled in one-fortieth of a billionth of a second to leave the image on the Shroud. Otherwise, it would have scorched the image and destroyed it. And the image is just two or three microns thin. It disappears if you go closer than eight feet to the Shroud.

And so this is what has baffled scientists. Scientists have confirmed it is not a work of art. It’s not man-made. No one’s worshipping some kind of man-made idler relic here. They have confirmed there’s no pigment, there’s no dye. But they have also said we have no idea how this happened. The best rocket scientists of our day, Raj, cannot explain how the image is embedded in the linen cloth. They can’t duplicate it. This artifact is so incredible and unexplainable by natural means. Joe Rogan and his friend Eddie Bravo were blown away looking into the supernatural circumstances around this Shroud.

When you had Mel Gibson on your podcast the other day, he brought up the Shroud of Turin. And I always thought that was fake. It was like in the 80s. What is that? The Shroud, it’s like the cloth that Jesus was buried in and left an image of him. And in the 80s, like 1988, they did carbon dating on it. And they go, oh, it’s fake. See that? Yeah, it literally has like the image of Jesus burned into it somehow or another. I never looked into it. I just figured it was fake. But listening to you and Mel Gibson talk about it.

It’s real? Is there? Well, apparently it’s a lot older than they assumed when they did the first testing. And one of the problems is cross-contamination. There’s also been repairs to it. But they did subsequent testing and they found that it was like 2,000 plus years old. Yeah. And the one thing, the one thing, it’s the most studied artifact ever. Like particle physicists, nuclear engineers, they all studied it. And they, some of them, some believe in it. Some don’t believe in it. But they all agree on one thing. No one knows how they did it.

Right. There’s no paint. There’s no paint. There’s no dye. So dude, all this week, dude, all watching documentary after podcast, mind blowing. Yeah, it’s pretty crazy. It’s mind blowing. If it turns out that they can’t figure out how anyone could ever do it. Like if no one has come up with a theory of how to do that today. Yeah. That’s where it gets really interesting because it wasn’t paint and it wasn’t dye. They all agree on that. It wasn’t burned. They all agree it’s a mystery. But then the skeptics say, just because we don’t know how it was done doesn’t make it real, which is a good point.

But then the other side is like, dude, all these scientists have no idea how they faked it. It’s got to be real. So it’s all about how you look at it. I lean on the side and be real. There’s a nuclear engineer. That would be the most fun. There’s a nuclear engineer. You can go on YouTube. His name is Roger Robert Rucker. Watch his breakdown. This guy’s a nuclear dude. He’s breaking down the phone. He it’s insane because it’s a negative image on a non photographic material. Right. Right. And then it turns out like if you look at it with the naked eye, it’s white.

And then you see the image of the face is kind of like yellow. You can barely see it. But in like 1898, some photographer took a picture of it and then flip and then looked at the negative. And then all of a sudden in the negative, the whole body appears front and back because he was buried like with the images. He was buried with the sheet under him and it went around his head. That’s the back of him because he yeah, the right one’s the back and the left one’s the front. That’s crazy.

No one knows how they did it. No science. The holes where the wrist would be nailed. Yeah. That was the thing with Jesus with me. It’s very hard. It was always very hard to believe in Jesus. I’m like, dude, the resurrection, like that’s a hard one to wrap your brain around. Right. I could believe that he existed. I could, I could believe that he got crucified. A lot of people got crucified, but the resurrection was always the thing that kept me from really believing in Jesus. I’m like, there’s no way that resurrection was real. But even if this is real, it doesn’t mean he was resurrected, right? It just means he was crucified and he was the actual real man.

No, the thing is, is how the image got on, let’s just the people that believe that it’s real believe that when he was resurrected, some kind of ultraviolet radiation, some kind of burst made that image because that’s because that image has never been on any other shroud. People get buried in shrouds all the time. There’s never an image like that. Pretty crazy. And the crazy thing is the blood, there’s no image under the blood. So the blood was there first. And then the image is after, dude, I’m like, I went down a rabbit all week just watching the skeptics, the scientists, particle physics.

They have no idea how that image got on the front and back, the back of them too. Eddie Bravo was once in unbelief about the resurrection of Jesus and his divinity as the son of God. But it’s so awesome to now hear that after looking into it, Eddie Bravo confesses that Jesus is Lord and Christ is King. Jesus is Lord. That is to me still framed somewhere on that. I’m all in, dude. I’m all in. I’m all in. With all this, with a shroud of turn, I’m all in, man. Christ is King. It’s quite interesting when you look into how many different Bible verses refer to Jesus as being the light.

It appears that the only way this image was transferred onto this shroud is through a supernatural light. And there’s only one person who can harness that type of light. And that’s the Lord Jesus Christ, who alone has immortality dwelling in unapproachable light whom no man has seen or can see to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. That same type of unapproachable light was witnessed by some of Jesus’s disciples when he transfigured into his state of glory before them. And he was transfigured before them, his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.

Jesus harnesses the light of God, which we could never approach on our own. But through Jesus, he gives us the opportunity to be brought into that light by accepting his death or our sins and his resurrection in victory over them. That was the true light, which gives light to every man coming into the world, a supernatural light shown out of the darkness to leave an imprint on that shroud. And that is the one and only light of the world. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shown in our hearts to give light to the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

That same light is available to you and me right now by believing in Jesus Christ and all he’s done for us and making him the Lord and King of our lives. Then Jesus spoke to them again saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. [tr:trw].
