And I tried to explain a little bit like who I was and this and that. And she was not very nice. And I was like, she was kind of had like, I’m from the news type vibe. And I was like, I’m willing to bet this gets more views than the evening news tonight. And not knowing what the post would ever do or what that would have done, but it’s kind of funny to look now and be like, oh man, I was right. Yeah, yeah, this is, I mean, this is why it’s like, you know, I totally understand when you guys are saying like, Hey, you want to be sensitive when we’re filming this stuff.
And if you’re not, if you’re not in that headspace, you have a problem. But at the same time, it’s it I mean, think about how much good this post is doing the fact that hundreds of people are getting down there now, because you did that. I mean, my instinct is to encourage you to do it more with whatever you’re doing, because that’s the stuff that has the impact is when you actually are in the right place. And, and you’re doing it for the right reason. And you can get people to come from that place that honestly, humans have forgotten.
And like, we need to bring them back there. So I mean, I think it’s I think it’s great. And it’s amazing that you’re down there that you went down there, that you’re probably getting in trouble with your wife. I heard you say that. Of course, you know, any sane wife is going to try to talk their husband out of going to a place like that. Everyone cares about you, you know, but, but it is that that human spirit and that sacrifice of wanting to help others that makes us human. And yeah, all of us have to do more work like that, I think.
Yeah, I mean, I said it to a buddy of mine today. It’s, you know, I don’t want to sit here and bash the news or whatever like that. But if you watch the news or read anything, it would have you believe that this country is just full of nothing but racist people who are constantly fighting, fighting, don’t like each other and stuff like that. But the amount of messages and the amount of emotion of what people have and the authenticity with everything they’re saying and the people that truly care that are literally ready to fly here right now, and get messages from people over in Germany, sending their sending their love and prayers and everything like that.
And so like that, that is what I think that the consensus of true people and how they really feel and not the little, little echo chamber they like to talk about on the news and all that. Yeah, I mean, you know, I lived in Texas for for a couple years. And I lived in New York City as well. And every time I go to New York City or down in Texas, like everyone is so cool to one another, even in New York City, too. Like everyone like you’ll go into a shop and you just start a conversation with someone and you end up talking for a while.
And you’re like, What is all like, what is all of this nonsense I’m seeing on the news, like, it’s just, it’s good to just shut that stuff off and just be real people. Because, you know, it’s not it’s not like they they they say, it’s really not. I’ll tell you guys, I took my first trip, two things. I took my first trip out to California, not long, long ago. And it was, I had a I was I was going to speak in an event out there. And we’re not long ago. And they canceled the event.
And I had to take it anyways. And I was like, Well, at least maybe I can go and try to help. And so I was able to go out there and link up with a veteran organization and start to try to do some work. And we had a couple things that I noticed that were, they were very unfortunate. And now I’m not saying it at all. I’m not saying people didn’t lose their lives, their homes or anything like that. But when I initially went out, there was the mid when everything was going on, according to the news.
And so the news was showing the Palisades engulfed in flames, just everything going on. When I landed it when I landed in LA, there was a there was a slight haze, but there was no active fires that I saw or anything like that. And then we were actually like, we were at the Palisades. The current news and the world news was still showing that they were completely engulfed in flames. The Palisades wasn’t even it wasn’t even smoldering anymore. Like it was out. We were trying to volunteer our time and our efforts.
They didn’t want that. We were trying to volunteer goods and all that. They didn’t want that, but they were ready to accept monetary donations. Now that just seems kind of odd to me. But and then I remember leaving and flying out and standing next to my buddy and I leaned over and tapped and was like, hey, check out the Palisades. And it was still on the local news showing them engulfed in flames, keeping that, you know, that fear among whatever, whatever you want to call it, keeping that going. And so yeah, that all that just kind of disturbs me at a time like this.
Yeah. Yeah. Shawn, I probably don’t know this, but Ben mentioned it to you. We used to work in a newsroom together, right? And one of the things that that made us create this show is we started noticing in the newsroom that the stuff that all of the mainstream media were showing on TV was not what we were actively experiencing over and over and over and over again. And we’re like, these pieces of, you know what, are just lying all the time. Like people need to know that there’s real stuff going on out there and what it is.
And so we kind of decided to create the show so that we could research stuff on our own and start teaching people to stop listening to the talking heads on the media, because you’re not going to, you’re not going to find your way that way. You really aren’t. There’s too much corporate nonsense going on with that to get to the right place. So yeah, again, it’s like, that’s why this is so, it’s so important for you. I mean, thank you so much for taking the time even to be with us and to tell everyone what’s happening there.
Because if it’s not for guys like you, we’re just not going to know the truth. We’re not. Right. Well, and that’s part of the big problem is that people don’t trust them. Ben, pull your mic close to yourself, dude. I think I’m having issues with it. Hold on. Okay. Can you hear me? Okay. Yeah, you’re good. Go ahead. Let me see. Hold on. Yeah. Okay. I don’t know. I’m having some issues in my mind. Anyway. I know that. And that’s part of the problem with the mainstream media. People are just don’t trust it enough. And that’s why even I go to X, you know, because you see firsthand accounts of what’s happening in real time.
Whereas the media, it’s just like, oh, you know, kind of a, you don’t know what you’re really experiencing. And then like you said, I don’t trust a lot of news anchors out there. I’ve seen firsthand, I’ve seen NBC and CNN makeup stuff, because I’ve been on there. I’ve been out on the field and I see it firsthand of what they’re doing. And I’m like this, like what Rob’s talking about. I’m like, dude, this is, this is not accurate at all. So especially anything related to the elections over the last eight years that I’ve experienced, you know, so, so, so that was kind of the whole thing of why we’re doing.
So again, I think what you’re doing is important, even though it does seem to, it’s always like, oh, should I do this or not? But it’s like you are getting the truth out there to people that don’t know what’s happening. They also have family members out there. You know, people have friends out there. The media is not going to really help in this case. So, and we’re seeing things on these videos that it’s not in the media. So it’s great. I really think I appreciate what you’re doing. And I think, I think the people of Texas do too.
Thank you. Yeah. I specifically didn’t ever click over to monetize my YouTube channel just because I’m afraid they’ll start censoring what I, what I say and what I talk about. And a lot of what I’m talking about on my, on my shows or having to do with mental health or substance abuse and all that, but yeah, you got to be careful. I’m kind of known for saying the uncomfortable thing in the room or the, you know, the thing that a lot of other people are afraid to say out loud. And I don’t ever want that freedom to get taken away.
So I’ll keep that over taking a couple of dollars each month. Amen to that. Hey, we’ve got some questions coming in from people that are watching the show and I think maybe you can answer some of this. So first is, do you know where some, some of the lost people found? Yes. I mean, the, as very shortly after we got there, they found, they found a young girl that had been washed for 20 miles. Oh, still living, still living. And so that was my goodness. That was, that was the one story that we, everybody kind of hung on to for the day as their sense of hope.
And they’ve, they’ve continued to, continue to find people. I’m not sure that we’ve been kind of heads deep in what we’re doing. So I haven’t really watched news or gotten numbers or anything like that, but I do know they continue to find people. I forget what the total number was of, you know what I mean? How many alive or how many not. It looks like right now that they’ve there’s confirmed about 105 people who died with dozens still missing, maybe even more. On our site alone that first day, they found nine in the hours that we were there.
So is, okay, this is a question a lot of people have. What, what organizations basically are there? Is FEMA onsite or other government agencies? So when, where we were at, it was first, it was first, it was the state police, a lot of fire department, wildlife, wildlife people were definitely out there in force. And then regular law enforcement, they kind of started to, started to trickle in a lot of fire departments from, from everywhere else. FEMA may have been set up in the middle of the town or anything like that, but they weren’t ever set up where we were at.
And I didn’t really hear about much people having, having dealings with them either. Gotcha. Gotcha. All right. So I wonder why, so this is a question that somebody had, I wonder why there are some reports that’s, that state that relief efforts are blocked. Have you noticed that relief efforts were being blocked at all? That the only, the only thing that was what we were kind of talking about earlier was that just the tourist people trying to show up and do that. So they are putting out like Facebook posts. I saw the Facebook post that keeps making its round how law enforcement is stopping people from doing that.
If you show up down there right now with a chainsaw and you look like you’re ready to work, you will be put to work immediately. You’re not getting turned away, but if you’re showing up in perfectly clean clothes and your, your Crocs on, you’re probably not getting it. I have a policy. Never trust a man in Crocs, especially not an event like that. Oh my gosh. Yeah. All right. So another question is, do they want you to save found clothing or belongings in order to identify possible lost or deceased people? Yeah.
They were, they were anything we could find that can identify somebody they were, they were having us look for. Okay. And what, what would you say is the best advice you can give seeing everything that you’re seeing for people to prepare for this kind of a natural disaster or flood even? Well, like what should they do with their home? I guess it’s a pretty broad question, you know, like if it, yeah, I guess all of it, really. So like we, I could, you could say your home, but also like if you get caught in a situation like that, maybe even.
I mean, I would say always, I’m all about the company you keep all the people you choose to surround yourself with. And so I know I have people no matter what, that I can call them day or night and they’re going to be there for me. And those are the only people I surround myself around with that, if that makes sense. I absolutely believe in protecting my family first and doing what I have to do. So if that means have an emergency food here, emergency water generator. We have all that. I’m not saying I’m somebody that’s a big prepper or anything like that.
But if some, you know, Texas grid, power grid has gone down. We’ve had the big ice storm. There’s been a lot of these things that happened. And so I think now at this point, you know, wherever it’s coming from, however it’s happening, if you’re not preparing yourself, you’re living in a, you know, I’d rather have it and not need it than not, you know, then vice versa. Everything you said is exactly why I’m a bit prepared is I would rather have it and just not need it. And then if something does happen, I can be like, Hey, guys, come here, you know, for a couple hundred bucks, I got I got at least at least enough food to get a couple months with, you know, with me and my wife, I’d rather that couple hundred dollars gone.
And I don’t have to think about it again, then being caught like, Oh, shit, how are we going to get these cans open? When we had you guys, did you guys hear about? I know you said you used to live in Texas. Did you do you remember when we had some apocalypse? Did you guys? Oh, yeah, I was there. I was there. I had to drive. I had to drive from Austin to Houston and Cyprus where I lived. And it was total madness. I mean, I’m from the Northeast and I’m used to driving in the ice and in the snow.
And there was nothing like that because there’s just no salt in Texas to deal with any of that, you know, right? I’m from Northeast Ohio. I grew up and I we flourished during during snow apocalypse. I had I had us right. I had us ready to go. That was when me right when me and my wife met. So we bonded over it. I remember going, but I remember when they opened up HEB only for a couple hours and you saw you saw what time it was people were only out for themselves. There was not this this camaraderie.
And, you know, I remember bringing home canned goods or something like that. My wife looked at me and she’s like, I’m not going to eat that. And I was like, you will if you want to survive. Welcome to real life. And I think it’s just natural human behavior. Like, you know, we have right now and sitting in Austin, we’re doing okay. So we’re absolutely ready to jump down there and help. But if this hits your area and there’s nobody coming to help, things change very quickly. So protect your family and just always be ready and make sure that you surround yourself around people that you can count on when the time comes.
Yeah. And for God’s sake, leave toilet paper for other people. I don’t know what you people are doing. Like I go to the market when some disaster happens and I’m like food or, you know, milk, I don’t know, milk, bread, something. And then you just go to the toilet paper aisle and you’re like, do people crap that much? Seriously. If if Charmin and those companies didn’t have a hand in that whole thing, I don’t know what’s going on. I’m wondering if that is the case, too. You just brought up the next conspiracy theory we have to look into, which is, are the toilet paper companies behind this? And guys, I’m all for a good conspiracy and all that stuff.
But, you know, I didn’t I didn’t see any of that kind of stuff down there with FEMA because it would have it would have picked up on my radar pretty quick. But yeah, just a whole lot of people that cared and wanted to help. I don’t know. I don’t know if I still knew that some of that didn’t happen or what. I can’t see under this administration either that FEMA would be having that big of a negative role in something like this at all. So that makes sense. The only the only thing I heard about that throughout the day was I heard, and I’m not I try to stay out of political just because I don’t ever want my podcast to get, you know, to be understood.
But I did hear people going around saying that Trump said that Texas can have whatever they need or whatever they want. And that was the that was the word everyone was saying. And so I mean, I don’t we have so many people messaging right now. Like my phone has been going this whole time of people trying to go. And so I think we have droves of people coming down ready to help. Great, great. All right, that’s amazing. So if people are going to go down there tomorrow, what would you what advice would you give them in order to help as fast as possible? Where should they go? And how should they get involved? Any you’re going to as long show up, show up with the sauce, show up with gloves, look like you’re ready to work and you’re going to find your place.
Everything’s kind of still fluid down there. They pulled us out of the area we were at so they could get in there with the dogs. So then everybody diverted over to the other the other area, and then it was too packed up. So that’s kind of we are, we’re circling up and we’re gearing to go back down on Monday, we’ve been talking with some of the some of the agencies down there. And that’s kind of when they’re going to be cleared out. So we’ll be able to go down and do what we need to do.
And so we’re just trying to channel everybody to meet in Dripping Springs, Texas on Monday, we’re going to meet at the HUB there. And we’re just going to kind of convoy down. So if there’s anybody local that’s interested in that, please get ahold of me or project grit. And we can coordinate that. But if anybody’s going down ready to go, you know, be prepared to work with don’t be don’t be don’t be deterred. If you get turned away at one or two places, you can you can drive through that town and look down at the waterline and see that there’s still debris and everywhere that might not be, you know, necessarily right in the main city.
So you’re going to be able to find a spot to work. And for God’s sake, don’t wear Crocs. Like wear some actual boots. No crumbly gosh, that’s crazy. Well, I saw people in shorts too. Shorts not smart. No, no. What would you recommend them wearing? Actually, that’s a good that’s a good question to ask some some good old jeans. You don’t mind getting dirty or wet and torn up. Make sure you bring a change of clothes, bring some socks, bring some other shoes, but have some good boots on your feet. If you got them, just be prepared to be prepared to do some blue, blue collar hard labor.
But there’s there’s people of all different shapes and sizes down there. There’s there’s small women out there that are on top of, you know, 100 foot piles of debris pulling pulling sticks off. So there’s somewhere where you can get down there and work for sure. Keep your kids at home, though. Definitely. Keep your kids at home. Definitely. Well, Sean, thanks so much for for being with us. And you know, is there so a couple things like is there anything else that we miss that you feel like you want to tell everyone and tell us about your your podcast and where to find you? Yeah, no, I think that’s it.
You know, if anybody follows along, we’re going to be putting out posts up to date of anything we find out or know and how anybody can channel their efforts. Where I know Project Great is setting up a GoFundMe so we can make sure we know exactly where the money is going and get to the people that truly need it. Just so stay tapped in with us. And if anybody has any questions, feel free to DM me. The podcast, it’s on all platforms. I usually channel people to YouTube because that’s where the video is.
And we have people from all different walks of life. We’ve had on UFC fighters, Olympic silver medalists, actors, musicians. But the overarching goal is, you know, big guests are great. They help bring eyeballs to the stories that, you know, really, really matter. And at the end of the day, we’re all recovering from something. So anybody that’s been through adversity and they’re looking for more and understanding that, you know, all this pain in your life, if you get a little, has a lot of power when you give it some purpose. Amen. Great.
Man, super inspiring. Sean, thanks so much for taking the time, especially with everything that you’re doing to be on our show. I don’t want to take up more of your time or I can speak for Ben too, I think here. But thank you so much, brother. And good luck down there. And let’s stay in touch because you’re awesome, dude. What you’re doing is great. Thank you. And I appreciate what you guys do. Put putting truth out there and asking questions. That’s what that’s what everybody should be doing. Thank you so much, Sean. Yeah, it’s great having you on.
Can’t believe we connected before. Me too. I know. That’s great. Yeah. Thanks, Sean. Nice. I look forward to talking to you. Me too. 150 years in the making. The ultimate evil specter. Lies, hatred, and struggle. Traditions destroyed. The deep states called communism. Get your questions ready because it’s time for our live Q&A session, exclusively on RISE.tv. [tr:trw].
