But the 6.8 is a rather large quake to strike in this region. We haven’t seen one this size in quite some time. The last time one this magnitude struck in the region, it makes me think back of Haiti when we seen the tsunami and the events connected with that. But this is on the southern flank of Cuba, so if there was going to be any kind of tsunamis, they’d be generated to the south here of the island and not toward the United States. It looks like we do have another quake here of 5.9, so we’ve got several quakes striking in the area.
This one listed as a 6.8. They are also very, very shallow in nature. For what it’s worth, these could be some kind of foreshocks to a bigger quake, or they could have just been releasing energy here with no tsunami, which is a good thing off the coast. We’ll keep an eye on this, though. Anytime we see incoming sun energies, there’s always a chance for an uptick in earthquake activity and volcanic activity. But there you go with a look at the big quake off the coast of Cuba. I’ll keep you guys posted if we see any more action.
This has been Dabu7. Much love. [tr:trw].
