In North Carolina, a device with radioactive material has gone missing, and officials are asking for public help. The device, an industrial radiography exposure device or IR camera, was stolen from a truck at a motel and found missing the next day. It’s dangerous and can cause harm, so if found, don’t open it and stay at least 30 feet away.Transcript
The camera was discovered missing the following day. And right now, they’re just saying that, look, this thing contains radioactive material and that it can cause physical harm if mishandled and to contact authorities if anyone sees or knows anything about this device. Now, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. We’ve seen trucks stolen in the past that had some of these in them and then they recovered them. And I believe I’ve also reported on one being stolen out of a vehicle down by the border before they also recovered that device. But one of these times someone could have something nefarious up their sleeve.
There’s not a whole lot you’re going to be able to do with this thing and it could cause some major damage if someone has bad intentions. So as long as it’s missing, a heads up here.
