And one of the reasons why we decided to do a video like this is because I did a recent three day water fast. So I wanted to talk about my experience, kind of shed some light on how it’s not really a big deal if you don’t make it a big deal. So I just wanted to talk about that. And of course we’ll talk about how the benefits of the digestive system is invaluable. Yeah, yeah. Very good. So both of us did a fairly recent fast. Completely different kinds. Yes. So tell us about your fast. Yes, definitely.
So before I even started fasting, our kids were with my grandparents in the Caribbean. With their grandparents, my parents. So I was able to have three weeks of being able to house clean and you know, spring cleaning, but in the summertime, so I did an outward fast. I cleaned the house, organized every single drawer, you know, bought things that made more sense and threw away things that didn’t make sense. So I did a lot of upgrading outwardly and then I realized I need to do some more upgrading internally. So that’s when I did another water fast.
So my, my fast was a three day water fast where I started right after dinner and I think that was a Saturday night. And then it went three days out and then I re reinvented it. I think I was Tuesday, Tuesday night, went back to. And I ate dinner Tuesday night. So it was water in between all of that. So before I jump into the knickknacks of the actual fast, I want to kind of talk about why, why should we fast? We are giving the digestive system a break, which is really important because it’s going non stop.
Let’s say you eat it around 6 or 7 o’. Clock. Your digestive system is just going and going and going while you sleep and then you wake up and you eat again and you’re just hitting it over and over and over again, so you’re not letting it rest. So you also want to allow the body to clean and clear itself through autophagy, which I’ll talk about a little bit more what that is. But basically it’s allowing the system to clean itself, basically, and activating the immune system and stem cells that get. Get activated and the body starts to produce more stem cells.
When you are fasting also, it’s called catabolic metabolism. When you stop the process of eating, basically you stop the process of anabolic. Anabolic metabolism where you constantly put food into your system basically to make it easy to understand. And it’s. You basically stop introducing calories, food into the body on a consistent basis and just allow your body to rest. So going back to autophagry, autophagy, auto is means, means self. And then fagi means to eat or consume. So it’s the body going in and getting rid of like cellular garbage, junk, debris. The immune cells start to recycle and get rid of damaged proteins and they start to heal, which is amazing.
You can reduce inflammation. You completely reset the body. You have and memory and mindfulness as you move further into a fast. And just a visual of this, and I’m sure all of us have seen this on social media where someone has a cup full of cola or grape juice, some sort of dark drink, and they put it underneath the faucet and then the water goes in slowly and as the water goes in, the water in the cup turns clear. And that’s basically what you’re doing for your body to give it that clean slate, basically. Yeah, yeah.
So your organs actually work to clean themselves up until about 11am every morning. So when you are eating this huge breakfast, which is really touted as important, it’s not giving your body the time to clean itself up. And when I. Whenever you’re digesting, it takes 30% of your energy in your body to digest the food. So you’re really pulling a lot of energy into your digestive system when your organs should be cleaning themselves up, going through their own period of autophagy. And they’re basically being stifled when we’re doing that. So if you want to eat in the morning, and a lot of places know this, like a lot of different countries know this, you eat fruit in the morning because it takes almost nothing to digest fruit.
So fruit is basically like water with fiber and a little bit of sweetener. So it just goes right through your system. And it takes about 15 minutes, usually for fruit to digest and melons are even faster. So that’s, it’s important to know that your organs need time to clean up. And I’ve been learning some of this stuff because I’m going through my own digestive journey. But it’s really important. Like it feels really important to me and I pay attention to that stuff at this point. Yeah. And you know, it’s working because you feel so good after.
Absolutely. Yeah. So let’s talk a little bit more about what to do before a fast. So you basically want to check your eligibility. You want to make sure you can fast. So there should be, if you, if you’re a diabetic or managing your blood sugars, you definitely want to stay away from fasting pregnant and breastfeeding women. Also people taking any medication that requires food. And anyone that’s, you know, young, 12 and under just, it doesn’t make sense because they’re going to stop their growth or it’s not for them. Yeah. And ask for support. Ask for family and friends or even a doctor if you feel as though you’re unable to do it from a medical standpoint.
Get them involved, ask questions, have them monitor you. There’s some doctors from the videos that I watched that said you can go into their office and they can check your blood to just make sure you’re okay. Hey, and you could even get a fasting buddy, someone that is going through the fast with you at the same time and just give them moral support and they give you moral support as well. Stay away from anyone that’s going to sabotage you. So if you know someone in your life that may poo poo your idea or you know, eat something in front of you while you’re fasting or just be rude, you want to stay away from those types of people.
Put brownies under your nose. Exactly. So, so mean. And yeah, I learned from Dr. Mindy Peltz, P E L Z. She has a ton of videos on YouTube. So it’s good backup information about fasting and that women should not fast a week before your menstrual cycle because it’ll destroy your hormone, your hormones. So that’s something to keep in mind and figure out what kind of fast you want to do. Is it water only, fruit only, dirty fast. And also the duration. Do you want to have a three day fast, a one day fast, 36 hour fast, five day fruit fast, things like that.
There’s so many different ways to, to fast basically. And like I said before, starting after dinner for me was really good. So it gives yourself the benefit of starting a fast while you sleep, which is very helpful. I get, and again, tons of videos on YouTube about fasting, and most of the ones I looked at were from doctors because there’s a lot of chemical mechanisms that happen while you fast. So I wanted to hear about them. I’m a layman, so I’m not a doctor. I’m not. I don’t know about any of that, but it’s good to know, you know, what.
What it does to your dopamine and your glucose and all the things that they talk about. And of course, prep for your fast. You want to use mineral water, which is ideal. I used just distilled water because I wanted to make sure it was completely clean. But then I also drank burdock tea without any sugar or anything in it. And I took. I still took my burdock supplements and took certain supplements for the mineral intake. So that was what I did before the fast. Yeah, that makes sense. And your detox pathways are really important. So I was recommended when I was really sick to do a fast.
And it was a green juice fast. And, you know, it was from a doctor, but they didn’t realize that my pathways were all blocked. So I had the worst experience. And so you want to make sure that you can sweat, that you can go to the bathroom, and you want to make sure there. I know there’s one more thing in there, but your lymphatic system is working. Those kind of things need to be working, or else you’re basically retoxifying yourself. So I would prep with those things before you fast. And one of my very favorite things is the infrared sauna.
So getting a cheap, portable infrared sauna that you could put in any room in your house and sitting in that every day is a huge way to detox the body. But my fast was a fruit fast, and my higher self said three weeks. So I did two weeks. The second week, I ate just lean meat at night because that is one thing that people that are fruit fasting will do. But it really changed my body. Like, I felt so much better afterwards, and I only did two weeks. So I kept checking in with my body and my higher self, and I did two weeks, but I try to just eat fruit in the morning if I want to eat at all.
And that’s really helped, too, because you’re not putting that load on your system. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that’s really good. And again, it is what works for you and what you feel like you can handle, especially if you’re going through things at work, things in your personal life. It’s hard to fast when there’s added stress because it’s already a change, you know, in what’s going on with your, with your life. And let’s be honest, I mean I, I feel like I reincarnated on this planet to eat. I love food. Can’t get enough of the taste, you know, the taste, the textures.
I’m sure everybody can relate to that. So to say no to that, it feels harsh. But it is also a mental commitment to go through this. The fruit fasting is pretty easy. I will say it’s pretty easy. You’re eating all day, little bites of food and you’re basically hydrating yourself because fruit has structured water in it. Your body’s made of structured water, so you’re really hydrating your system. That makes a lot of sense. Yeah. So going back to some of the knickknacks of the actual fast itself. So on day one, your body, if you’re going to do a three day fast or with just water, which is what I basically did, the body is using stored carbohydrates on day one to fuel the brain.
The sugars get depleted. So at 24 hours, the fast will reset your gut microbiome. So if you have candida issues, issues, parasites or sibo, which I didn’t look up what that is, but any issues like that, small intestinal bacteria, overgrowth. Perfect. Okay. So that’s what that stands for. Good. I did not look that up. Thank you, honey. So basically that would reset the, those issues that you had. And 24 hours of just water may not be as bad. You’re going to bed and then right the next day at dinner time, you’re eating dinner. So it could be manageable for, for a lot of us, yeah.
Yeah. Day two of a water fast is where the ketones kick in. So everybody hears about, you know, the keto diets and things like that. Ketones are being produced. Fat burning is happening after 36 hours. And at 48 hours we reset our dopamine receptors, which is the receptor sites for your happiness molecule basically in the body. So if you are going through a depression, fasting on after day two could help you maybe, but it is, you know, all that focus that we talked about. And on day three is where you really start getting into the heavy hitting benefits of autophagy, which we talked about, or the body’s cleaning up all the garbage.
And also weight loss if you need it, a lot of clarity. You get a small burst of energy. Some people don’t get any energy and some people get a big burst of energy and many digestive benefits, which is the focus of this video. So for me, a three day water fast is a really nice sweet spot. It gives me just enough to clear out everything to get that clean clarity. And I do it maybe once or twice a year. Some people do it several times a year, but even once a year, you, you’re going to get the benefits of this.
Yeah, yeah. Some people do what’s called dirty fasting and they will fast every other day. And this would be normally for like weight loss. So they’re getting a 36 hour fast in every, you know, other day, which is pretty crazy. But it really helps with if you want to lose weight and you also don’t want to have loose skin if that’s so because you’re achieving that. There’s a point I can’t remember whether it’s 24 hours or right before the 36 hours that autophagy kicks in, but it does kick in. Doing the dirty fasting, probably not in as big of a way as if you were doing the three day fasting, but that’s another alternative.
And you want to definitely check with your doctor or your naturopath and get a book on it so you know what you’re doing. Because dirty fasting, you’re able to have your coffee and you can have heavy cream or butter in it as long as you’re not interrupting the glucose. So you’re not basically triggering insulin. And that’s an interesting way to fast, but I think it really helps people. So people will do that. And you can do that in the morning too, instead of fruit. And that’s another way to kind of go along with it. I know in Europe, like especially France, they’re eating fruit in the morning and they’re having coffee and they’re all thin.
You’re like, what’s going on here? And they’re also though, having croissants. It seems like. Now I am not from France, so I don’t know what you’re really doing, but that’s what I’ve seen on tv. And I’m like, oh, that’s why they’re doing good. And I’ve noticed also food combining is a really big thing, so we’ll probably talk about that in the next one. But I think just giving your organs a break and letting them actually clean up your body is a massive thing. So you could do that with intermittent fasting. Yeah, yeah, that’s, that’s really good.
And what I like to think about when it comes to the stress of fasting. I mean, we’re not calling it starving, but we could. That’s kind of what it feels like at certain points. And you get hungry and the hunger turns to hanger, which is like angry and hungry. But I always move back in and just focus on the end result. And one of the reasons why training pregnant women how to give birth naturally is so appealing to me, it’s because I know what the body’s capable of. It’s capable of so much more than what we’ve been told.
So there’s a part of the brain that is in control of suffering and it’s the amygdala, it’s close to the pituitary gland. So it’s basically right around here. So this region, it’s involved in processing our negative emotions. And those emotions are usually associated with pain. So we focus. That part of the brain is actually helping us move through the, the discomfort of being hungry or, you know, wanting to chew something, things like that. Yeah, and it really does help. And I always visualize a garbage disposal that is never turned on. So maybe the food and the garbage disposal eventually dissolves.
But if you never turn it on, you’re never going to be able to clean it out. So have the courage which, you know, our digestive system, if we can empty it or turn on garbage disposal and clear everything out, it will smell better, it’ll work better, it’ll do things for you that you want it to do. So that is really important. And now that we have our 5D crystalline body, we can handle fasting. I was skeptical to do something like a three day water fast. It seems long, it seems arduous. But I realized after my first one last year that I have a 3D.
Okay, so she froze. And it is crystalline and it is robust. And instead of eating lunch, I went for a walk and I let the sun feed me instead of having a snack. I did deep breathing and that those little things were feeding me instead of food. And I, that’s when I, that’s when it kicked in. I’m like, oh, I’m using my 5D body now. And it was fantastic. Yeah, it is a lot easier to fast. I noticed it was like no problem to fast. And in the past when I would try and do it, it was absolutely awful.
So even a watermelon fast was absolutely awful in the past and it’s much easier now. So your body really wants that. I don’t think we’re really Meant to be digesting food all day long, which is probably why the organs are cleaning themselves up until 11am probably not really meant to eat, you know, until after that. Oh, you. You glitched a little bit on my end. You say that one more time. I said it’s really not. I don’t think we’re meant to be eating all the time, especially in the morning, because there’s other things going on in the body.
And that’s probably part of a psychological warfare, honestly, because it makes you so tired to have some sort of enormous meal in the morning, especially if you’re mixing your proteins and carbs and you’re caffeinating and you’re doing all of this stuff and basically bogging your organs down while they’re in the middle of trying to clean themselves up. That’s right, yeah. How many of us have heard, eat like a king in the morning, a prince for lunch and a popper for dinner. That may work, but maybe it’s, you know, just an old construct that needs to go away.
Yeah, I mean, the Romans were eating and throwing up their food and then eating again. So they were having feasts, which were basically bulimic exercises, you know. So I don’t really think that people have the right idea until they really feel what feels right in their own body. So experiment, you know, and if you have something going on, like diabetes or something like that, get a doctor involved. There’s actually special places where you go and you learn how to fast, and they use them as like a healing center. And I bet you that some of those problems could be healed through fasting.
But that’s up to your own research. Yeah, definitely. Yeah. And the benefits just outweigh anything that I can think of. So whatever fast you choose, it’s very important. And also ending a fast. For me, I think of mashed potatoes as comfort food. So for me, it’s better to use fruit, like a mono fruit. Just one fruit, a melon, like you said, would be very easy to digest. So if you’re doing a fast for the very first time, to break your fast, it’s better to do, you know, broth, maybe bone broth or something. That’s very simple. But for me, after doing a couple mashed potatoes helps me break my fast, and it helps me feel like I’m being, you know, comforted and all of that yummy good stuff.
Well, that’s a mono food too. Oh, yeah. You know, really the potatoes. And potatoes are filled with potassium, which is really good for your nervous system and your Adrenals. So you’re almost like instantly de. Stressing yourself by eating potatoes. So I don’t suggest eating. Eating instant potatoes or, you know, anything that’s kind of like potato chips or anything like that. But mashed potatoes are really good for you. Yeah. Yeah. That’s good to know. That’s my go to. Yeah. And awesome. Yeah, this is really good. And just, you know, just to also add for as we wrap up, one of the things that you start to move into is a devotional environment when you’re fasting, because instead of filling yourself up with food, you can fill yourself up with spirituality.
So finding a beautiful book that you can devour or something that really makes you feel elevated, it helps. So this was one of the books that I picked up, not just for my vacation, but to read it. Angels in My Hair by Lorna Brin or Bryony. I don’t know if I’m saying her name, her last name. Right. But beautiful book about angels. She’s. She saw angels ever since she was 2 years old. And it really helped me feel like I was surrounded by support. So things like that. And also Megan, Megan Rose’s book, her second book.
I have the first one, the Heart of the Galaxy. If you’re into more of a galactic family atmosphere, that one is just. It’s stellar. She talks about her. The program she’s in, and I forgot the name of it, but where they come here. She’s. She leaves her consciousness in a pod and she comes to the here, to the Earth. And I want to shout out, jimmy, Brother Jimmy. I did get one of these air purifiers, negative ion air from Amazon, and I’ve been sleeping with it inside of my room. And it is fantastic. So this is something else that will help.
Just purifying the air, creating a lot of negative ions in your atmosphere while you’re sleeping, especially you wake up. It’s. I wake up exuberant and really almost effervescent. It might be too much. I wake up so tired in the morning. And I put this on. Yeah. And I’ll put the link to this below, but. And that. I’ll find that and put that below as well. Jimmy’s recommendation. But anything you can do to help your own energy. Because we’re going through a lot right now. We’re going through a lot of stuff right now. Our body is changing.
Anything you can do to appreciate yourself and love yourself and help your own energy, it’s worth it. And fasting is definitely worth it. Yeah, definitely. And it may feel hard when at the beginning and in the middle, but focus on the end. Focus on all the benefits you’re going to have at the very end. And it is. It is worth it. And your willpower is re engaged because it’s hard to say no to food. But when you do and you just consistently keep it up and then you know you’re. There’s an end. There’s an end point to it.
It’s very temporary, and you can get through it and continue to do the mirror work. All the things that help you, just like Honey said, loving yourself, it. It’ll get you through whatever type of fast you choose. Yeah. Yeah. You’re resetting your gut. So I just want to mention those hormones, those happy hormones, they’re made in the gut. So it’s a thing we need to take care of. Yeah. Right. Thank you so much, Dana. This is great pleasure. Enjoy it.
