Well, I have something very special to share to you. You know, many of you know that I’ve been speaking now for the last 30 years. And every time I start my engagement, I always come out and say that I’m probably one of the most fortunate, most blessed persons to ever get up on this stage and talk to you about anything. And the reason I say that is because had I continued on the path that I was on, followed that road, I’d either be dead or in prison for the rest of my life.

Now, some years back, when I walked away from that life, there were people that wanted to kill me. And here I am today in front of you, getting ready to prepare a Valentine’s Day dinner for my beautiful wife of 40 years. Things change in life, so I’m very fortunate to be able to be here. We’ve done a number of these cooking shows, and everybody loves them. Everybody really loved my meatballs. Well, they were Grandma’s meatballs. I can’t claim the credit for it. The only thing I did learn is how to watch her and how to make them.

I think almost as good. Grandma’s always a little bit better. But today’s very special. And not only am I going to cook one of my wife’s favorite dishes. But I’m going to talk to you about what I really believe you need to know as a man to. To see if you really got the right woman, a good woman. And, well, I’ve been married 40 years. We’ve been together 42 years. So I think that would qualify as me having a pretty good marriage. We’ve had ups and downs, of course, but she’s a very special woman, and she stuck with me through a lot of things.

And we’ll get into that. So I have some tips, you know, how do you recognize a good woman in your life? Well, my views on that might be a little different than many. I am kind of old school, and my wife is quite younger than me. She’s about 12, almost 13 years younger than me. And there’s many things we disagree with, but she’s a good woman, and that’s for sure. And she’s been with me now for quite some time. So as I cook this wonderful meal for her, I’m going to talk to you about that. And I don’t care if you’re married for five minutes, you’re married a year, or you’re married for 30 years.

This is important stuff. And for those of you that have been married a while, I think you’ll agree with me. For those of you that are just starting out, I hope you do. But take these lessons because, you know, I’ve proven them to be correct over a period of time, a long time. So we’re going to start this meal, and, you know, there’s two different. This is fettuccine Alfredo with a little shrimp in it. And, you know, fettuccine Alfredo is really an American dish, not an Italian dish. If you go to Italy and you ask for a fettuccine Alfredo, they don’t know what you’re talking about.

They’ll say, we don’t make it. But if you ask for fettuccine, that’s different. So that today we’re going to do it Italian style because, number one, it’s a little easier. My wife likes it better. I have to tell you something about Italy. I. I’ve been there many, many, many times. The wonderful thing about Italy and Europe in general is that they have very little preservatives in their food. I’m telling you, there’s times in here when I’m here in America and I’ll eat and all of a sudden I feel bloated and, you know, I’m gaining weight. You go to Italy, you Can eat all you want, practically.

You don’t feel it, you don’t gain any weight. It’s just different. As a matter of fact, in Italy, if you go and you order something on the menu that’s frozen, you, they will let you know that it’s a frozen food because everything else is. Is prepared fresh. And it’s wonderful. It’s terrific. I love Italy. Actually, I love all of Europe. Every country that I visited, the food has been terrific, the people have been wonderful. That’s been my experience. So it’s been great. So today we’re going to make fettuccine. Very easy to make. Very, very easy, very simple.

If you’re on a diet, don’t even bother because this is not low calorie stuff. But again, in Italy, you’re not going to gain weight because of it, because it’s all natural foods and it’s great. So we’re going to start out with that. And then I have a very, very, very special announcement that I want to make for our terrific wine that all of you have been supporting. And I really believe that. And I’ve been doing that as often as I can for eight years. I wasn’t able to do that because I wasn’t home. But I think I’ve made up for it in the past 34 years. So now as I prepare this meal, I’m going to give you a little insight as to how my wife and I came together a little different than most stories I can tell you that, and especially what happened after we finally got together. But let me start with the pasta and of course got a boil of water. So let me set this up for you. It’s back in 1983. 1983, I am a made guy. I’m a mobster, no question about it. In the Colombo family, I have reached the position of Caporgimo captain, right? So among many things, I’m doing, I’m making movies.

Smokey Robinson was a good friend. He came to me with a screenplay for a breakdance movie and a lot of music, a lot of dance. And we took cast and crew from LA and we brought them to Florida where we filmed the movie and we brought 20 professional dancers in to dance in the film. So I had them all staying in a hotel room in South Florida. I think it was called the Marina Bay Club. It’s not there anymore. And we had just finished six weeks of pre production and now we’re getting ready to get into the heavy stuff, right? Principal photography.

Put the flame on high, boil the water quickly. Let’s get it going. So we get into principal photography on a Monday, Sunday I throw a party for everybody in the back of the hotel. All the cast and crew, they’re all having a good time. Beautiful day in Florida and I’m sitting by the pool actually drinking a glass of wine. We didn’t have Franz east wine back then, too bad. But I’m drinking a glass of wine, talking to some of the guys and all of a sudden out of the water by the pool comes this gorgeous 20 year old girl.

And I saw her and everything went in slow motion, was like a Pepsi commercial. Right. And I said, wow, who is this girl? And she looked like a dancer to me. Had kind of a dancer’s body. So the choreographer, Jeff was sitting around the pool. And I said, jeff, is that one of your girls? And he said, yeah. I said, bring her over. I want to meet her. I figured, hey, big shot producer should want to meet me. Why not, right? So she comes, I introduce myself to her. Her name was Camille. And I said, camille, I’m your producer.

I want to get to know you better. Let me take you to lunch. So she says, you’re very sweet, polite. Great. So I set up this restaurant on top of one of the main hotels in Miami. I got everything going but the violins. I figured she’d come up to that restaurant, I’ll sweep her off her feet. She was mine. That was my attitude back then, right? Well, I’m up there about a half an hour, 45 minutes, she stood me up. Never showed up. Right. Stood up a mob guy, but she had no idea who I was.

And so the next day, I see her on the set, and I said, hey, what happened? We had a date. You didn’t show up. I thought she was going to say, I’m sorry, you know. No, she said, I was busy. You were busy? Oh, excuse me. What were you doing? She said, I was rehearsing. I said, okay, can we try it again? Long story short, we made this appointment five times. She stood me up each time. She don’t want to have anything to do with me. Now, that really got my interest. So let me tell you something, ladies.

This is for you. You want to get a guy, play hard to get. Don’t make it easy for them. Trust me. We don’t want what’s easy for us. We want somebody that’s hard to get. I have five daughters. I tell them all the same thing. Play hard to get. It works, okay? You’re special at that point in time. Make a very long story short, I really pursued her and took me a while, but she got to know me a little bit. And Obviously, we’re together 40 years later, so. But it was a very interesting story, obviously.

And, you know, all I can say is, for the past 40 years, she’s rough. Don’t get me wrong. She’s very independent, very tough. She’s a Latin woman. Gotta watch these Latin women. They’re very feisty, I would say. But we’ve been together 40 years. And I keep repeating that because 40 years is a big deal, especially in today’s day and age. Big deal. So anyway, that’s the beginning of the story. See how this is going now? You know when you put. Make pasta, you got to put a little salt in there. Why? Because they don’t stick. You either put salt or olive oil.

I do either one. Today we’re going to use a little salt in there. You don’t want the pasta to stick together? No. Good. All right. Not too much. You don’t want it too salty. So first thing, we got some nice Reggiano parmigiano benches. Like I said, this is Italian style, so it’s a lot easier to prepare. In Italy, they don’t use any heavy cream. No cream. If you took that out in Italy, they’d say, what are you doing with that? How much cheese do you use? Well, that’s subjective. You know, a lot of people like to measure and they get a measuring cup and they do all of that.

You know, when you get to cooking quite a bit, you know everything just by feel or by touch or by eyesight. I like a lot of cheese. The secret in my meatballs, I told you, was a lot of cheese and a lot of garlic. So you put whatever you think feels good to you. I’m going to put a lot of cheese in this. In fettuccine, you need a lot of cheese. I don’t know how many of you like cheese. I could eat this whole thing just as it is, honestly. So back to the story. So finally after a while, she says to me, you got to go home and meet my mother.

After we wrap the movie, we get on a plane, I go meet her mother. Everything works well there. How do you tell your girlfriend’s mother that you’re a mobster? How do you tell her that you’re a captain in a Colombo family? Well, you don’t. You know, I wouldn’t offer that right away. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I ever offered it. They just found out because I was pretty high profile and news got out pretty quickly. But, you know, for some reason, the family took a liking to me. Her father was a little bit.

Kind of a little bit of a gangster anyway, you know, they’re Mexican. Mexican American, but Mexican. So they’ve been around the block a little bit, at least. Her father was. So it wasn’t. It didn’t put him off too much. The mom, I don’t know, but her mom was a very religious woman, and for some reason she took a liking to me and she. She prayed for me a lot. So that’s a good sign. If your mother in law is praying for you. Well, it could be a good sign. Could be a rough sign. That means you might be in a lot of trouble.

I wasn’t in any trouble, and not yet, at least. But things started to get a little bit hot after that. Actually, a few months after I met her, I got indicted on a big case by Rudy Giuliani, and I was a lead defendant. And if I would have got convicted on that case, I’m doing 100 years in prison, no question about it. So even though we were in love and we were engaged and planning to get married, I didn’t want to marry her because I knew if I got convicted, I was going away forever. I didn’t want to destroy her life.

So what happens is the jury, at the end of the trial, the jury is out. And they were out for seven days. And I wouldn’t let her come to the courthouse because I said, if I lose this case, they’re going to take me away right from there. So it’s a Friday afternoon. The jury comes out, I get acquitted, not guilty. I run to the phone, I call her up. She was in New York. I had them all staying there, her and her family. I said, pack up. We’re going to Vegas. So we go to Vegas, and I told her mother, I want to marry this girl right now.

So we go, we get married in Vegas. She said, just like this? I said, yeah, I’ll give her a big wedding later on. I said, but let’s get married right now. So we got married in Vegas in May. May 9, actually. And then a few months later, in July, gave her a big wedding out in California. So we got actually married twice. And she makes me celebrate both days every year. So she gets two wedding days. So I think this is enough cheer. Let me give a little more. I like a lot of cheese. Okay, so what follows is this.

We get married in July, in December, I get indicted again on another big case that ultimately put me in prison for eight years. And I have to say this. When you want to know if you really have a good woman, I’m not suggesting, guys, that you go to prison. But I went, and this woman waited for me for eight years. We were married just a few months. Waited for me for eight years. That’s the real test. And she passed it with flying colors. And like I said, it was tough for her. She was a young girl, but there was something in her that was just a good woman.

And she knew I loved her, and she was going to wait for me. And she waited for me all that time. So, you know, they’re very interesting. My dear friend Chaz Palminteri, you know, the movie Bronx Tale? He said, there’s a couple of tests that you can see. He was teaching little Cologgio, you know, how to see if you got a good woman or not. He had this girlfriend, and Chaz lent him his car to take her out. And he said, here’s the test. She gets in, you obviously open the door for her. You’re a gentleman.

When you walk around to the other side, if she doesn’t lean over and open your car door, get rid of her. Dump her right away. You dump her, you dump her fast. That was his test. Okay, well, let me tell you a couple of tests that I have for a good woman. Number one, like I said, if she waits for you for a couple of years, well, you know, you got a good one there. But there’s a few other things that are really important. You know, how does a marriage survive for all this time in this day and age when things are so tough? Not easy.

Not easy. You’re going to have ups and downs. You’re going to have challenges. The honeymoon section is over. At some point in time, reality sets in. Well, you know what? Sometimes there’s financial issues. Anything could happen. There’s no marriage made in heaven. Trust me on that. No matter how much you love each other, things are going to happen. Children come into play, finances. Sometimes anything could happen. You know, what are the tests? To see if you really have a good woman. And you know, ladies, you might be sitting there and say, well, wait a minute. What’s the test? If you really have a good guy? Well, I’m going to say both, you know, because I believe this for you ladies.

I believe this with all my heart. And lately, the last several years, there’s been a difference of opinion here. But I’m telling you this. Every woman really wants a man to be a man, a man’s man. What do I mean by that? That he can protect you. That he can take care of you financially, even if you’re financially independent. Even if you’re a professional. You want to know that your man can still provide for you. Okay? That he’ll protect you. That he’ll honor you no matter what. Even when he’s angry with you. Even when you get into disputes and disagreements that you’re going to have.

I can tell you this right now. My wife and I disagree on almost anything. Every time I bring something home to her and I say, listen, I’ve got this. And she says, No, I don’t want to do it. They’ve been trying to make a movie on me for 20 years. She said no. You know, it’s always no. And then I got to slowly convince her on, you know, if I want to get something done or if it’s no, I just say, okay, we’re not doing it, you know, one or the other, you know, but you got to be a man.

You know, that’s what this is all about. You know, these women today that think that they don’t need a man, they don’t need a man until, you know, they’re in their 40s, and then they’re all of a sudden, they’re lonely, and where is the man that I wish I had? And a lot of this is the man’s fault because he doesn’t conduct himself properly. I’ve said this many times. When a man acts like a real man, it’s not demeaning to a woman. It’s a benefit to a woman. And I think inwardly, every woman wants to see that in a guy.

Okay, you are the guy. You’re the protector. Until today. Okay? I opened my car door for my wife. My wife, I can tell you this. We got a new car last year. I don’t think she’s ever put gas in the car yet. Why? If I’m going away on a trip, I make sure she got a full tank of gas just the way I am. Little things like that. When we get home, we have packages. She doesn’t carry them in the house. I said, go in the house. I’ll carry them in. No, I could just go in the house.

I’ll do it. It’s my job. All right? And one thing that she really loves, when I cook, maybe three times a year, I tell her, sit down. I’m going to do all the cleaning because I want you to enjoy the meal. I don’t want you to have to think that you have to get up and clean the dishes and everything else. And I’m kind of fanatic that way. I normally have all the dishes just about clean by the time I’m finished cooking. That’s the way I do it. I chase everybody out of the kitchen. This is my kitchen.

I’m cooking, I’m cleaning. Go and enjoy. Enjoy the whole experience. That’s a man. Nothing, you know, crazy about. It’s a man. That’s what a man does. If you’re sure of yourself, who’s going to tell you that you’re not supposed to be cleaning up? Come on. All right. That’s what men do. They provide and they take care of their woman all the way. All right, remember, we put a little salt in the water, put the pasta in at the same time. You know, it’s funny, last week now we’ve been making pasta for God only God knows how many years, right? And last week, for some reason, I don’t know what happened, but we put pasta in and they were coming out. Just wasn’t right. Cooking at the same amount of time, we couldn’t figure out.

It was like some mystery happened. But the week later, we straightened it out. I don’t even know what happened, but it was crazy. It never happened to me before in the 50 years that I’m cooking. All right. How long does a pasta take to cook? You know, it really all depends. And you got to just taste it. You know, I like it al dente, meaning it’s got to be a little bit hard. Not really hard, but a little bit hard. I don’t like when it’s kind of mushy and soft. No good. So you do it by feel a little bit and then you’re just going to taste it.

I happen to like fettuccine. It’s one of my favorite. You know, it’s funny, growing up as a kid, I like more macaroni, you know, like rigatoni and penne. Now I’m more into spaghetti and fettuccine. I don’t know, your tastes change, but this is a great dish. We’re going to add some shrimp to it later. Your wife is going to love it. You want to please her. So what are some other tests that you really know that you have a good woman? Well, you know, if a woman waits for you for eight years, like I said, you know, you got one.

But there’s some other things. You know, my wife, she’s always looking out for my health. You know, they say that married men live longer than single men. And it’s not because they take care of themselves more, but because their wife is concerned about them and worries about them. I Never think about going to the doctor. I never really concern myself with my health because I’m going to be 75 years old, but I’m in pretty good health. And, you know, I never abused my body. I didn’t smoke to never smoke. Never drank to excess, never got obese.

Always kind of watched my diet. When I was in prison, I was very careful about what I ate, you know. But now, you know, as you get up in years, my wife is. Did you make your doctor appointment? Did you get your annual. Are you taking these now? She wants to put me on peptides. She’s always looking out for my health. That’s important. She wants me to be around for a while. She doesn’t ask me about life insurance policies, which is strange. You know, she’s not worried about that. You know, she just wants to enjoy her life with me, and I really appreciate that.

So when your woman is caring about your health and about, you know, the way you. You look and your appearance, great. She’s. She. She loves to talk to me about the clothing that I wear, you know, and if she doesn’t like what I’m wearing, she. She’s not shy. Go back in there and take that off. You look ridiculous. She said that to me many times because I’m into comfort when I dress, you know, like I said, 2 minutes, 3 minutes. It all depends. But taste test is how you know your pasta is done. Ready? Al dente, I’ll tell you.

Imported pasta, the best kind. No doubt. Italy just knows how to make their food. No doubt about it. Okay. What does it really mean to be a man’s man? I’m going to tell you all this, people. I’m not going to get into it all now, but my latest book, you know, I’ve written a number of books, but my latest book is entitled A Man’s Man. And I think it’s very necessary at this point in time with all we’ve seen in the last several years about men, you know, in this kind of. Should I say the word, woke? People get insulted by that.

I hope not. But in this kind of woke world that we live in now that men have been, you know, demeaned in a big way, and it doesn’t do society any good when things like that happen. So what is. What does it mean really to be a man’s man? Now, notice I take the fettuccine, I put it on top of the butter, and then we kind of mix it around. All right? So you take this, put it right on top of the butter. And you start mixing it around, the butter will mix in with it. Now, if you’re used to this in America, you’re saying, well, where’s the.

The heavy cream? Well, you don’t use it. You stir it around with the butter. How much butter to use? That’s kind of up to you. But you got to see this butter kind of mixing in with the pasta. Got to mix it up real good, make that butter. Just saturate the pasta. And please don’t ever say noodles. Every once in a while, somebody will make a mistake in the house, and they’re talking about. Instead of saying pasta, they say, noodles. Don’t do it. Noodles belong in China or some of the far Eastern, not in Italy. Italy, we have pasta.

Everything is pasta. Get that butter nice and melted, and then we’re going to put the cheese on a little black pepper. Looking good. All right, man. So, you know, getting back to what it really means to be a man. You know, when I first got involved in the mob life, my idol in my life was my dad, because I believe he conducted himself like a man. He had a lot of strength. He had courage. He was very protective of my mother and. And his children. And I really idolized my dad. And I say until this day that he was in some ways a man’s man, but in other ways, I think he was lacking.

Add some cheese. Now we start to listen. For me, you can’t overdo the cheese. You can. As I’m telling the story, I got to watch what I’m cooking here. So as you can see, we put a lot of cheese in there. And the nice thing is that once the. The butter saturates the pasta, the cheese kind of sticks to it. Looking really good, smelling really good. All right, now we’re going to add some black pepper, spice it up a little bit. Again, you add it to your taste. Essentially, this is done. All right. Right now, ready to eat? Put it on a plate.

Ready to go. However, we’re going to add some shrimp to it. I like to. I don’t like to do a lot of work when it comes to the shrimp, so I buy them frozen. It’s okay. They’re already cleaned. But if you choose to buy them raw, you can do that. Just get them prepared, take the shell off, cut off the tail, and you’re ready to go. But here, I like the easy way. It tastes just as good. You know, men got to have integrity. One thing my father did teach me when I was younger, he said, you know what? You got to be a Real man.

When you walk down the street, you got to hold your head up high. People have to respect you. You got to have integrity. Told me to keep your word. You know, another thing my dad told me, obviously, you have to have strength, and you got to have courage, but you got to know when to use it. Very, very important. I think we got enough shrimp here for. You can put as much shrimp as you want, but I think we have enough for just the two of us, me and my sweetheart. All right, now we’re going to fry the shrimp.

Get the pan hot, add a little extra virgin olive oil. We’ll get that ready. I know any Italians that cook without garlic, always have a little garlic. So we cut up a couple of cloves of garlic as thin as you possibly can. Yeah, I don’t know many Italians that cook without garlic some way, shape or form. We always got to put our garlic in there, always. They say there’s tremendous health benefits to garlic, and I believe that. It’s not always the best thing to have when you’re going on a date, I would think, you know, but garlic is just.

It just. It just adds something to almost every food. I think part of my legacy. When I’m long gone here and people have something to say about me, I hope one of the things they say is that he conducted himself like a man. What does that mean? Well, kept his word. Whenever he made a promise or had a business deal or an arrangement, he acted with integrity as often as he possibly can. Look, sometimes things happen in life. You try to keep your word, and you can’t. We understand that. But basically, if you make a promise or you make a deal or an agreement with somebody, you keep it.

It’s important. We talked about how you treat women. Don’t have to be redundant. Go over that. But it’s just basically your principle in life. All right, so going to do this real easy. We’re going to take some of this garlic, and we’re going to put it in a pan and brown it before we throw the shrimp in there. Always love the smell of garlic. All right, so I like to put a little bit of black pepper. I cook with me, it’s black pepper on almost everything I cook. A little bit of paprika, not too much. Looks nice, tastes good, spround the garlic.

Some people like to add onions in this. You can do that also. I wonder how many of you guys really enjoy cooking. I know a lot of comments I get say, Michael, we really don’t cook at home. Well, why don’t you start. I remember my dad. He loved to cook. He always bragged that he was the best chef. I can’t say I agree with him. He was okay. But I kind of like my mother’s and my grandmother’s cooking a little bit better. But, you know. All right, and now we brown the shrimp. Not too long on this, maybe two minutes.

Just get them a little brown. Garlic is going to make them taste real good. And oil, always extra virgin olive oil. Just until they get brown on each side. No. It’s funny how many people have asked for my recipes again. I have to say, though, the meatballs were really the. The home run. Everybody really enjoyed them. You know, it’s funny, back in the day, I would never order meatballs in a restaurant because they can never match up to my grandmother’s. But I’m going to be honest, Lately I’ve been. And my family will tell you, every Italian restaurant we go to, I always order meatballs.

I always want to test them out. And lately, some have been pretty good. I have to say that I don’t know if they were watching me. They got my recipe, because I hear the kind of the same ingredients or they’re just getting better at it. I don’t know how many of you like shrimp. I love shrimp. I tell you, if your wife doesn’t love you after this, something’s wrong. Now you got to set the mood, too. Don’t forget, that’s why the wine is important. And, you know, even if your wife doesn’t like candy, you got to buy her a box of chocolates.

Have to have that there nice card, you know? And the women always say, you know, don’t you have to buy us anything? It’s not that important. Buy them something. Trust me on that. But I will tell you, it’s nice if they say, I don’t need a gift, and then they don’t get mad at you if you don’t have one. But hey, you know what? If you can’t go out of your way for your wife on Valentine’s Day, then there’s really something wrong with you, you know? All right, I think we’re good here. We’re ready on the shrimp.

Again, only like two minutes. Not too much. Take that shrimp. Put the fettuccine on a plate. Put the shrimp right on. Okay, Looking good, smelling good. Okay. A little fresh parsley on the top, and you got a beautiful dish here. Excellent. And believe me, all this was prepared in about 10, 15 minutes. So now we have this beautiful meal prepared. Fettuccine with shrimp, not Alfredo. Remember, this is Italian style. So now let’s get our wine. And it’s going to be BlackBerry for me, strawberry for her. You know, she wasn’t. There wasn’t an immediate, you know, because of who I was or whatever. She didn’t make it easy. And there was something different about her. Remember, I met her on a movie set. A lot of women doing a lot of different things. And even though she participated and she was a dancer, she kind of separated herself from the bunch. I just saw something in her. Now remember, I’d been around a little bit, you know, I was in my early 30s, she was only 20, but there was just something about her. And then the more I got to know her, the way she carried herself, the way she spoke, you know what, at that point in time, never used profanity.

I never heard my wife say a profane word at that point, you know, so it was just something special and I felt it. Was it love at first sight? It was close to that, I have to tell you that. And obviously I picked the right one. What’s the biggest mistake that men make in relationships? Well, just not treating the women the right way, you know, not, I don’t want to use the word cater to them, but not showing them that they’re important and that they’re special little things, you know, the way you speak to them, you know, the way you acknowledge them, the way you pay attention to them, you know, going out of your way from them little things.

So that she says, wow, this guy really cares about me. When you don’t do that, you take women for granted. Not a good start and most likely not a good finish. How do you keep the Spark alive after 40 years? You know, I have to say this. Sometimes it’s tough because you’re going to go through ups and downs, challenges, you know, things happen in life. But for me, I have to be honest with you, I never, never ever lost interest in my wife. Never. You know, we’ve had our ups and downs. We had some very tough times.

Eight years in prison, you know, a lot of things, that baggage that I carried after there. But you know, just make her special, talk things out. You have to speak. You can’t hold things in. If something’s on your mind, bring it up, bring it up the right way. But you gotta, gotta converse. You have to have discussions. You can’t hold things inside, especially if there’s something that’s really burning inside of you. You got to communicate. Communication is so important, very important. Did Kami ever almost leave you? Well, I don’t know about that. You know, look, she struggled during the time I was in prison, no question about that.

And I think it was difficult. Tara, I’m going to be honest with you. You know, you’re away for eight years. We were only married a short time before I went in. It was like we had to get to know each other again once I came home, you know, so I’m sure she had some very difficult times, very difficult feelings when I was away. Hey, there was a time when she thought I was never coming home. So maybe it was in her mind. And I think she was honest with me and said, look, I didn’t know, you know, but fortunately, we had a good foundation for our marriage.

You know, and I’ll be honest with you, we’re both people of faith and God is in the foundation of our marriage. I don’t think we would have made it through if it wasn’t for that. So people that sometimes dismiss that and say, no, no, you have to have a foundation, a deeper root than only the two of you. And our foundation was in marriage. Look, we could have very easily at some point in time saying, hey, you know what, that’s enough. You know, we just separate, go out. No, marriage is a real commitment, but you have to have a strong foundation.

And our foundation has been in God. And, and I think that’s what got. I know that’s what got us through. What would you tell your 25 year old self about women? Well, honestly, I think I always had the right perspective on women and how to treat them. I can honestly say I don’t believe I’ve ever mistreated a woman in my life. I was married once before. She was a good woman. Unfortunately, we were married young and it just wasn’t the right timing. Even though we had three beautiful children that I love, I think I’ve had the right perspective and the right idea about women my whole life.

I really believe that. I’ve never raised my hand to a woman. Never will. Never will. I think that’s a cowardly act. Obviously, if a woman’s attacking you or something, you got to restrain her. But I would never raise my hand, no matter what. Just treating them the right way. And I think I’ve. I’ve carried that throughout my life and it’s worked well for me. How do you handle it when you and Cammie disagree? Well, gosh, we disagree all the time. You know, it’s funny, opposites attract. Well, in many ways, as far as our perspective on things, we are the opposite.

And I’ve learned now how to deal with that. When we disagree on something, we don’t fight about it, we don’t argue about it. You know, most of the time I let her have her space face because she is stubborn. I have to tell you that my wife, once she gets on something, that’s it Very, very hard to change her mind. But I understand it. That’s who she is. You got to realize, you know, who you have and what they’re all about. And I realized that. So our disagreements now, you know, we may get angry for a day, and I don’t talk to her, she don’t talk to me, whatever.

But then the next day, we’re right back at it, so it’s not a problem. What’s a red flag that tells you she’s not the one? Oh, boy. I mean, you just don’t feel it. You know, you don’t feel it. It all depends on what you want in a woman. And if you’re not feeling that she’s giving you that, well, then she’s not the right one. And when I say giving you just by who she is, not that she’s got to go out of her way for you, but it’s a feeling, you know, when you really believe you have the one, you know it.

And if you’re not feeling that way, then it’s not the one. I hope I’m explaining myself properly. How did your past life affect your ability to love and trust? Didn’t affect my ability to love, but it certainly affected my ability to trust. And I don’t want to be the guy that says, you know, people betrayed me and all of that. That’s a life of betrayal. You get involved in it. You understand hurts when somebody you really care about betrays you in a way or. Or just doesn’t live up to the expectation that you might have had in that person.

So it makes me more on my guard with people, but it didn’t affect my ability to love anyone. No. What do you do when you’ve messed up and you need to apologize? I apologize. Very simple. I have no problem with apologizing. I have no problem with admitting that I’m wrong. I have no problem. Problem in taking responsibility for any mistake that I made. I think that’s the quality of a real man. You can accept when you’ve made a mistake and you can admit it. Not a problem. It’s one thing I don’t like about a lot of men out there today.

A lot of people in power, they’re always blaming somebody else. They never want to take responsibility. And it’s. I. I think it’s. It’s a man who can say, I made a mistake and apologize. You know, that’s not weakness. That’s strength. What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for Cami? Oh, gosh. Out of the millions of romantic things I’ve done for her, I’m a romantic at heart. You know, Italians, Many of us are. I think one of the things That I did early on in our life. I’ll tell you this. We were on the movie set, and I said to her, I want to take you out for some Italian food.

And we were in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And so she gets in the car with me and we go to the airport, private airport. She said, what are we doing here? I said, we’re going for a great Italian restaurant that I know. She says, well, where is it? I said, it’s in New York. She said, new York? I said, yeah, come on, we’re taking my plane. We’re going up there. We’ll be there in two and a half hours. We’ll have dinner. She says, but I have rehearsal in the morning. I said, I’ll have you back in time.

Don’t worry about it. We jumped on a plane and we went to Manhattan, and we went into one of my favorite restaurants in Little Italy. Friend of mine owned it, and we had a great meal that night. And that was kind of the first night that she got an indication of who I might have been. Because a lot of the guys that I knew in Little Italy were coming up to me, and we were, you know, saying something. And afterwards, when we got on the plane, she says, michael, this was like something out of a movie, like out of the Godfather that I saw.

I said, ah, you know, don’t pay attention to that. But, you know, if you want. You want to win your girl over, just get a private plane and jump on there and go to eat in a nice Italian restaurant, Little Italy. You got it made for that point. I’m only kidding. But it was kind of an indication of what our life was going to be for her. So that’s all the questions we got. Okay? And people, you know, follow me on my platforms. We do a lot of. I get a lot of comments, and sometimes I’ll go to there.

We get so many. We get thousands. But I do try to see what my people are thinking and what they want to know. And every once in a while, I’ll jump in there and answer some questions.
