During his discourse, Jesus describes that those living in a specific region in Israel will have to urgently flee to the mountains because of the Great Tribulation. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let him who is on the house top not go down to take anything out of his house, and let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. Judea is currently partially in Israel and partially in Palestine. With the wars and unrest going on there this very day, we can see how this scenario Jesus warned about will unfold.
The conflict in Israel is another prophecy that Jesus gave us in his Olivet Discourse. But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. The incredibly prophetic Old Testament book of Zechariah prophesies about this event as well. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples when they lay siege against Judea and Jerusalem.
And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples. All who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all the nations of the earth are gathered against it. Israel is the center of end times prophecy, because contrary to popular opinion, God does still care about that land, and it’s the location where he will once again rule from on the earth when Jesus Christ returns. Thus says the Lord, I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem shall be called the city of truth, the mountain of the Lord of hosts, the holy mountain. Zechariah further prophesies about this and the second coming of Jesus Christ in chapter 14. And in that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west, making a very large valley. Half of the mountain shall move toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And the Lord shall be king over all the earth, in that day it shall be, the Lord is one, and his name one.
The people shall dwell in it, and no longer shall there be utter destruction, but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. The fact that Israel even became a nation again after being in exile for over two thousand years is a fulfillment of multiple prophecies. This is more confirmation that God has a plan for Israel, and they’re the center of end times prophecies for a reason. For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. Isaiah prophesied in chapter 66 verse 8, Can a nation be born in a day? On May 14, 1948, that’s exactly what we saw.
News articles even used the same wordage as Isaiah did, probably without even realizing it, signifying the prophetic significance of this event. New Jewish state born as Palestine war rages, state of Israel is born. The prophecy of the Third Jewish Temple is mentioned in the book of and then re-affirmed and re-prophesied by Jesus talking about the great tribulation in Matthew 24 verse 15. Therefore, when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, whoever reads, let him understand. There’s a lot of different organizations in Israel and all around the world who are in support of and currently acting towards rebuilding the Third Jewish Temple.
The next United States Defense Secretary has also publicly shown his support for this. Next US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called for New Jewish Temple at Al-Aqsa. Speaking at an event in Jerusalem in 2018, he said, There was no reason why the miracle of re-establishing the temple on the Temple Mount isn’t possible. I don’t know how it would happen, you don’t know how it would happen, but I know that it could happen and a step in that process is the recognition that facts and activities on the ground truly matter. It’s also prophesied that one day another temple will be built that will be for the one true God.
I believe this is in reference to a temple before the abomination of desolation. Whatever the timeline though, we know that the prophecy will come to pass one way or another and this is told to us in Isaiah chapter 2 through 3. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, he will teach us his ways and we shall walk in his path.
For out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Whenever the third temple is built that the Antichrist will commit the abomination of desolation in, this could be the event that will bring all the nations of the world to gather against Jerusalem. Not long after this takes place, the nations of the world will gather together for the battle of Armageddon in the northern part of Israel, this is the battle of the great day of God Almighty, and they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew Armageddon.
These prophecies aren’t all doom and gloom though, these events take place in Israel to be assigned to the Jewish people and the rest of the world that Jesus Christ is the and he’s coming back to restore all things to how they’re supposed to be once again. The book of Romans, specifically chapter 11, explains perfectly how the Jewish people’s rejection of Jesus has brought salvation to the rest of the world. They’re enemies for the gospel’s sake by rejecting Jesus before salvation and being part of the election, they are loved. They’re the original branch of the olive tree that God gave his revelation to.
I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not, but through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. Now if their fall is riches for the world and their failure, riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness? All non-Jewish people have obtained mercy from God through their disobedience. Through their disobedience to accepting Jesus as the Messiah, mercy will come to them and us. This way, God’s mercy will be given to all people. Only an all-knowing God could allow events unfold in the earth in such a way that mercy and salvation would be offered to all people.
For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you, they also may obtain mercy. For God has committed them all to disobedience, that he might have mercy on all. O the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God, how unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out. All these prophecies will lead to the coming of New Jerusalem being established on the earth, and Jesus ruling from this location.
It’s no coincidence that Israel is a central location from the book of Genesis all the way to the book of Revelation and we’re seeing many of these current prophecies in regarding to Israel start to take place this very day. I pray to God in Jesus name that the Jewish people will accept Jesus as the Messiah. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the Jewish people and all the people of the world to realize that the fulfillment of these prophecies proves the Bible is real, Jesus is the Messiah, and he’s the only way to heaven, the only Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Amen. But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come upon you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. [tr:trw].
